in my search for new employment, I have found a job I could enjoy ... I wonder if any of you would let me do some practice?

What's your claim to fame?

I don't have any, but I have met some who might have ...

In the course of my work I have come into contact with a number of ‘famous’ people, though I hesitate to say I have really ‘met’ them in any real sense. Doing corporate reports and advertising for large companies often had me photographing the President one minute, and the cleaners the next. I quickly learnt to communicate with both extremes on a human level regardless of their position or standing.

I have never felt intimidated meeting famous or powerful people, except for one, and that was Karsh of Ottowa. (He was the photographer who took that wonderful picture of Churchill in ‘bulldog’ pose – he had just whipped away Churchill’s cigar to get that expression…) Karsh kindly agreed to meet me in his hotel suite in Ottawa and entertained me there for over two hours. He was frail and elderly but exuded a force of personality that was simply overwhelming. Others have been, lets see …
Brian London, the boxer who had the biggest fists I have ever seen … John Ehrlichman from the Watergate scandal looking smug at a swimming pool in Santa Fe. Douglas Bader, the legless fighter ace from WW2, an avuncular and chap who told me all the best people had red hair. (he was also a red head you see) Gordon Banks, the last great England goalkeeper, and pleasantly down to earth. Chancellor Kohl of Germany was just another impenetrable politico. David Rockefeller, who smiled a lot and seemed a very nice man, (as all very powerful men tend to be - because they have very scary ‘helpers’ to do their dirty work for them, and he certainly did …) Denis Thatcher, an unattractive and pompous man - the worst person I have ever photographed. Various show biz types like Bruce Forsyth, Jim Davidson and Brian Connolly – I did once dance alongside Billy Connolly and his delicious wife in Bahrain, and I know why Sooty is very quiet having met the man who has his hand up his arse. Arafat has ignored me while driving past me a couple of times, and I was once invisible in the dull eyes of King Fahad. Sheikh Yamani (who was under house arrest at the time - he was the oil minister who crippled the UK and changed the world.) was very pleasant and self-effacing - unlike his son, whose wedding I ended up photographing. Plus any number of self-important princes. One man who impressed was an old Arab who lived in a remote part of Arabia, not in a palace, but in a basic mud brick house. Sitting in his home and drinking sweet tea, his wives and family hidden in the next room, it was difficult to imagine this man actually controlling one of the worlds largest commercial shipping fleets … Oh, and I probably met Osama Bin Laden as i photographed his whole family a number of times!

One thing I have found is that the ‘top’ people are a usually a whole lot nicer than the ones immediately below them …

It's all about class, my dear.
Aristocat! You're a sophisticated cat, proud to
hold your head up high even when somebody ruins
your day. You do have your bad hairball days,
but instead of freaking out over something,
you'd much rather take it in stride and move
on.

A sophisticated cat would never wear that !

It's been a few days I wanted to sit down around here and enjoy your company... but I've missed the time.

(jumping into the topic)

I *nooooe* I really look at life in some overpositive way, and it must be kinda boring (yawn yawn) to hear me repeating all the time everything gonna be ok.
The thing is I always believe that if you repeat that often enough, it will really happen, and really be ok (welcome to my Disney World! eeeeck! hehe)

That does not mean I don't care or don't worry or don't *share*. On the contrary... I really *need* to share my massive heavy constant sticky optimism. Or positive realism, yup that's it.

Life's treated me well lately, there's nothing I can complain about. Just money stuff. But I take holidays (I can hear you, Jack! hehe), I still buy shoes sometimes, soooo it should not be that tragic at all ;-)
I think our money life will get more difficult quickly... But "we'll see then", that's about my motto. Keep blind and deaf as long as you can, then you will *see* and deal with the situation. My carpe diem secret.

Anyway, I can see clearly life has not been easy with a few of us lately... That really makes me mad. Shit happens, but should not happen to DHNettes and DHNers!
I do *believe* the next months will be much much beDer for all of us (except for me maybe! lol). Keeping the head above the water, breathing, breathing, till you reach the next island.

Everything gonna be ok **~~*^* *~~*^* *^^~~*^*

hugggggs ewwwws Earth beauDies!
**~~*^* *^^* *

How are you all doing?
How are you doing, Jenny? It must be a tough week for you. If only we could help a bit...
Whenever you *need* to talk and share painful feelings, don't hesitate to use the DHN. We're all *here* **~~*^* *^^** *

Changing topic...
I've realized I had not watched AT ALL (not even 1 second) tv during these fookin american elections! It felt wonderful!
I read the blogs of dozens of people, all getting pessimistic with the future... It's worrying!

People keep talking of American politics -which I can understand-...but I see something really new here... people worry now for their "planet", not for their country anymore. I guess the internet again, the sharing of news, the direct contact from individuals to individuals from opposite sides of Earth, make people more aware of what might happen and more interdependent.

This could be a powerful resistance tool.

So if there's a new revolution to come one day, we might be part of it, even if it does not conern us directly.
Are you ready for that?
hehe

I'm not... but I'm kinda fascinated by this human pot.
Let's have a shnaps now!
hic!
