Hi all :-)

Sorry about this long silence - I had too much bile to spit and didn't want to spread it here. So for a change here's some magic: pictures of the Borcéliande forest in Brittanny (of Arthurian fame) where I like to recharge my batteries.

The beautiful tree in the background is "Ponthus' Beech" - about 500 to 800 years old.

I went there twice with Jenny, but this year we couldn't arrange it. Not quite the same (not as good, she wants me to say, and you know what? She's right ;-) )

Anyway, I drank from the madness-curing fountain of Barenton and I hope to be back more regularly soon !

Love to all

Happy middle of the week, ewwws DHNettes and DHNers!

Today Paris is sunny and really warm (about 20°C, 68°F), but the weather changes so much that I'm not sure it's really spring yet.
Anyway, sun or not, when I walk in the parc with the shrimpette, it smells honey and dat's enough to make me feel *guuuuud* :)

Talking of feeling guuuuuud, when I see ewww Penny stuck to an endless diet, then ewww Jack with your bloody cold or again you Jenny with your headaches, it's high time I get my whitish outfit and yuckkky medication!

Oh by the way, I officially think (lol) that we should find a new word for DIET, diet is a very furstrating word. We gotta invent a beDer one!
And while we're at it, it's hight time to add words to our magic dictionary to replace the creamy NICE and CUTE ones.
Sooooo 3 new words to find... for diet, cute and nice. Any ideas?

(mind boiling while singing this *watwasthatagain?*...: woooooords dont come easy to me lalalalaaaala)

Oh and coming back to what-we-call-but-not-for-long-a-diet, when you've a minute, Penny one, can you give us details about yours? What food you can get, what is really forbidden, and same with drinks?

First that will give us an idea of what is finally really healthy and second, we might get fooking good ideas to share about *healthy meals*!!!!

Were you born lucky?I was born in October, four days later than John Lennon, and share the unluckiest month! Hope I don't get shot... May is the time to be born if you want luck...followed in decending order of luck, by July, then April, March, August.

An old joke: Buy a home in Wales - come home to a real fire. (because the English were unwelcome.) Well, it seems it is now Brittany. Not burning homes yet, but 'Brits Out' graffiti is appearing all over. property prices have risen 50% in two years because of us. Which is bloody annoying for me, as I hope one day to live ithere. 150,000 Brits already now live in France, although some estimates put it at one million. Apparently, the locals are pissed off at us for organising cricket matchs (Understandable) and Morris dancing (unforgivable) and trying to colonise the rural countryside. It seems that in many villages, one in three houses are owned by Brits. I am with the radicals. 'Brits Out', I say! I want to live with Frenchies, not ex-pats! Oh well, I could always go and live in the Highlands of Scotland, wear a kilt and dangle my danglies in the Scottish air. I would love that actually, (live in Scotland hehe) but anything North of London is Outer Mongolia as far as the boss is concerned!

Huggeroonies Possumy Ones! *^**^**^*^**

Long time no see eh? Well.....that's kinda not completely troo, 'cause I've been seeing ewes - ewes jest having been seeing me :-)

I've had a really shitty last two weeks - I picked up some kinda flu thing last week and it knocked me for ten-eleven-twelve! I've just started coming outta my zombie-dom yesterday and am starting to feel like I might actually be human.....yoooupie!! So eventhough I've been jumping in and checking out that ewe are all still breathing I haven't felt much like being the social animal I used to be (all those years ago - chatting all hours on the net - tsk- where does the time go....).

Truth be told...the habits of all those years ago probably play their own part in the way things are within this Goddess' body now - whooda thot eh.....that staying up half the night, sipping on Good white wine ('cause life is just too darn short to have any other ;-) ) and drinking copious quantities of Coke, would do ewe harm!

Anyhooo...that's all in the past - we're moving forward now....changing bad habits and all that kinda stuff.

Sometimes I think maybe I am simply too focussed and so when I have a set back I come down with a huge crash! 'Cause dammit....I'm doing everything I'm supposed to.....I'm not supposed to feel shitty!! I just hate being so outta control with what is happening to my body - it sucks.

'K....nuff of all that....

Since ewes have been sooo busy snapping yer liddle camera shutters, I jumped in tonight and took a couple of shots of Gertie and my liddle area here but I still can't get the program for the camera to work (arrrggghhh!). Sooooo not to be left out of the pic fest, I jumped into PSP and did a little number on an old pic of Midget. I found a really cool PhotoShop tutorial on "Gothic Make-up" on the net so I tried it out on her pic - I kinda like it!

It's my second attempt - I did it on a different photo first and it looked evil rather than Goth. I'd changed her eyes to a pale deathly bloo....it looked great...but creepy *shudder*....not something a Mummy would post on the net *shuddering again for dramatic effect* heheh

Have a most salacious Easter everyone - keep yer bits safe - huggle yer family lots - and I insist ewe all eat at least ONE chocolate egg for me....two if ewe really wanna make me happy ;-?. In fact I think that would make a great photo topic for next week - a pic from each of ewe eating my egg - just so I know how much fun I had!!! :-) *^**^**^*

*Running to wake Happy Mac up for work - then to slip my joggers on for my morning walk* Gawd it's fun bein' all healthy and stuff (sometimes not! hehe)

Love ewes!!!

No good Easter jokes so far! damn!

Well... at least the pious catholic that I am can loudly wonder... what would be Easter without chocolate ???!!! :P
I like, I luuuve chocolate!
Will you all enjoy it for Easter or just no more than usual?
Since a few days I'm thinking almost salaciously about chocolate. I've also decided I won't get anything with chocolate around before Easter. Just to enjoy it to the maximum when time will come. Pain for pleasure, why are those always so close?
hehe

What's your favorite chocolate by the way? Dark, milk, white? I must say I have a passion as much for dark one as for white one (which is said to be anything but chocolate by purists... -rolling eyes-).
It will be the first *active* Easter for Lola... she can count on her mama to help get as many eggs as she can! mwaaahahaha!

Mid week hi dhn'rs! A couple of pictures for you to mul over as we go into this holiday weekend!

One old, one very new...

The faces are of the same girl, maniputated into different colours. Picture by Dave Wall, a winning entry in the Fujifil Distinctions awards. Interesting huh?

This second one was taken in 1950, and seems from a different age altogether. Taken by EF Hardman in Liverpool. I have always been interested in the huge industrial projects that overshadow the social fabric of life. Thos house in the forground probably housed the men who built the warship towering over them. The young lad walking down the road. to what future I wonder?

Happy new week ya DHN gang :-)))

I've got a very DHN piece of news....!
Yup yup!
We might have the chance to count on a Canadian DHNette who would join us in summer (when times will be more relaxed for her)!
And it's just not "anybody", oh neeee.... I've known Etolane since a few months now, and that thanks to Jenny :))
Etolane writes usually in French (and a pity really you can't read her blog... it's a jewl), but speaks fluent English (dat's one of the differences between Canada and France huh :P).

I won't tell more about Etolane here and now... not before she joins anyway :)
But I'm sure you'll appreciate her and her Canadian touch a looooooooot!

PS: Ohhh Penny, I miss your weekly words'list! I found it really kewl! Do you get any of them in stock again? ;-)

My little bureau :-)

top left: our network hub, top center my PC, top right our linux server
below an old 15" screen that has slighly turned green and that moves it's display right and left at will. Caw-fee and chocolate are in reach and I have done my best not to let you see all the disorder above and below ;-)

The good ole Shane McGowan has been washed from my stamp by the first spring rain, now it's me who glares at you from my rare posts.

Just to drop a few words regarding this famous site feed stuff (RSS or XML):
In blogger you can activate the publication of a "machine-readable" version of a blog, at the same time as your web page. Special newsreaders can then get the first lines of each message from the blog and display them in their own window. The aim is not to read the entire blog in the newsreader and not to go to your website anymore, but to see when there is a new post and scan the first lines to see if it interests you. In the program you can gather the "feeds" from many weblogs in one place, and get notified of new posts. For people who "watch" several blogs in parallel it is far easier now to be reactive. You can have a look at the site feed of the DHN here.
If this interests you still, I can drop some information on how to use it for yourself.

I'm playing so much with my cam that I think you already all know Gulliver, my big techie boy!
But ok, here you get 2 photos showing maybe a bit more than Gulli. That's where I spend time whenever I can, for work and pleasure ;-) **~~*^**~~*^* *

This is where I am chained everyday. To the right is the main photo printer. I sit in the blue chair pushing it around on its wheels from one demanding machine to the other. I multitask well!

Here is my cluttered and overcrowded desk. In front of the keyboard is two inkjet printers, one on top of the other (no space!) Flat bed scanner on the right, super flat bed scanner to the left. No mouse, I use a pen pad. The monitor is only an old 14inch thing which is well past its sell by date! But its small and fits in the corner fine and does a reasonable job! I keep meaning to get a flta one, then I see the price and I think, well, next month..maybe!

Welcome to our study.

My desk used to be the white one to the left of the pic. But when we decided to buy another desk, I got the new one and Fred ended up with my old white one.

I also get to use the PC, whilst Fred works on his laptop. I really enjoy having a flat screen : it takes up much less place. And I can rotate it and use it vertically (I don't often though).

Three dictionaries on my desk : two French-English dictionaries (one specialized in business, financial, legal vocabulary), one English dictionary (the Oxford Reference dictionary).

To the right of the computer, a notice board onto which I pin important information and postcards from friends. Pencils, "Post-its", glue, my glasses (which I hardly ever wear...), all sorts of bits of paper with lists of things to do, telephone numbers etc.
